About the Social Cartographer

Anyway first I want to tell you what a blog is. A blog is the combination of the words ‘bog’ (the swamp, marshland type places) and the word log (what you call trees after they fall down). A blog is a log in a bog to which you stand on and contemplate the quagmires of the world. There are several blogs that thesocialcartographer (TSC) administrates. It can get pretty confusing so I want to take some time to explain the new structure of ‘government’ that this regime will be introducing.. This blog (The Social Cartographer) is about development, mostly in Africa, social entrepreneurship, and the socio-economic and political situation of Somalia.

So who is thesocialcartographer?  I am originally from Somalia and now live in the US state of Vermont. I am a self-described radical, socialist, philosopher, and revolutionary. My interest involve film, photography, development, social entrepreneurship, and contemplating the principles of the universe.

The next blog is desertpunk films (unofficial name)) can be found HERE. Desertpunk films is a site for film reviews, discussion about filmmakers, and hopeful in the future about some of my own films. Most of the films are not mainstream and are foreign to the USA. It was created to stimulate social awareness by created socially conscious media (SCM).  SCM is media that ask unconventional questions, explores unreported issues, and presents provocative points of view. Desertpunk films is not solely the work of thesocialcartographer. There are a couple of contributors (arielinmorocco and thextractum) who work with me.

The other blogs are not on the word press system. The first one is a photography blog called Wondering Where the Lions Are and its at HERE . The second one is a more or less random snippets of news on politics and social justice focused on Africa and in particular Somalia. Its called The Rebel Underground and it can be found HERE.

Also I am currently administrating another WordPress blog; my sister’s Peace Corps travel journal, so check it out).
